# Tape Measure 📐

### 🧠 How It Works

The tape measure can measure distances between two points. The first right click "opens" the tape measure and sets the first point to the block you're looking at. The position of said block is also displayed on the item. Right clicking again on another block will "close" the tape measure and display the distance between those two points on the item.

By default, blocks selected by the tape measure have a marker placed around them. These markers are removed when a new measurement is made. The creation of markers can be toggled on and off via the `/function jbt:toggle_tape_selections` command.

Holding crouch and right clicking will reset the tape measure, clearing any existing markers and removing any positions or measurements displayed on the item. This can also remove any selections the player is looking at.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://wiki.dcxwc.com/minecraft-content/data-packs-and-plugins/tape-measure.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
